Introducing The Peligoni Club: A barefoot luxury beach club for a fun-loving crowd

The original founders discovered this magical corner of north Zakynthos, when the island was bereft of roads and there were just a few stone cottages with only goats for neighbours. Sailing around Greece, they dropped anchor and decided to stay. After many summers of friends and family visiting again and again, the word spread to friends of friends and soon enough, in 1989, The Peligoni Club was born.

The Shearer family, who had been coming to Peligoni since the mid 90s after falling in love with its simplicity and laid back lifestyle, took over in 2005. It was important to them to sustain the club’s bohemian roots and preserve the magic that had drawn them there from the beginning. Over time, Peligoni has slowly evolved into a chic barefoot beach club that it is today, yet still beholds all its charm.

Unlike a hotel or resort, The Peligoni Club doesn’t have any accommodation on-site. It is a members-only retreat with a strong focus on delicious food, friendly staff and serene settings, open from May until October every summer. The hillside near the club is dotted with a selection of carefully created luxury private villas, cottages and B&Bs, ranging from rustic boltholes surrounded by olive groves to sprawling minimal villas with majestic sea views.

The club, located on the seafront is exclusive for guests booking a stay. Memberships include many services and facilities such as concierge service, daily towel service, fitness classes, guided bike rides, group tennis coaching.

Peligoni believes that barefoot luxury is better with all ages. Their exceptional team and partners host activities for kids and teenagers who are grouped by school years so they can make friends and enjoy age-relevant activities. The Peligoni Club also provides two crèche locations, for babies and toddlers under 4yrs old.

Watersports are at the core of a Peligoni holiday and the sheltered coastal location, wind, kit and talented instructors, makes the club one of the best locations for delving into the world of watersports. The watersports offering includes sailing, windsurfing, paddlesports and motorized watersports like waterskiing and wakeboarding and are offered as two separate upgrades to the standard club membership: Paddlesports Upgrade and Full Watersports Upgrade.

The Peligoni Clubs partners with wellness and fitness specialists Oyogo, to provide members a variety of different classes six days a week. Along with access to the club’s outdoor gym and tennis courts. For some rest and relaxation, guests can enjoy the club’s spa for several treatments such as an after-sun treatment or a post-windsurf sport massage, a facial using pioneering skincare brand Dermalogica and nail treatments with OPI polish and shellac.

The club offers a wide range of culinary options to fulfill everyone's preferences. Tasi Restaurant operates as an all-day dining venue, serving delicious summer food from breakfast till dinner. Nestled under a canopy of pine trees, The Terraces takes inspiration from the Italian history of the island, with its wood-burning oven and an outdoor grill. Situated at the heart of the club, The Courtyard provides a stunning open space where evening feasts are hosted throughout the week, creating unforgettable summer evenings.

Positioned along the coast and just a short drive away from the club, The Deli & Kitchen is the off-site restaurant, offering guests the opportunity for a peaceful breakfast, lunch or dinner with wonderful sea views. Additionally, guests can conveniently purchase delicious groceries for their villa at the shop. Mikro Nisi, Peligoni's sister restaurant, is a charming Greek fish taverna located a brief drive or boat ride from the club. Here, guests can indulge in mezze-style cuisine while surrounded by an incredible setting.

For club members who would like to head out on a little adventure, The Peligoni Club offers a selection of carefully created excursions and trips. The Shipwreck Trip is a Peligoni staple not to be missed. Every Wednesday, guests are whisked away by a privately chartered boat, arriving at the bay of the world famous Shipwreck Beach. Peligoni’s classic yacht Odyssey is a beautiful, bespoke, 55ft wooden Caricque-style yacht built in the Peloponnese in the early 70’s. Odyssey can be chartered for a half-day or a full-day trip for groups up to 10 people and includes both a delicious lunch and refreshing beverages.

Throughout the year, The Peligoni Club hosts several events and themed weeks. In May and October, the PACE Wellness Weeks will take place. PACE is a laidback week that balances fitness and mindfulness with feasts, creative workshops, social gatherings and more. The House Party brings guests four days of sun-fuelled fun and relaxation. Think boutique festival meets holiday, where guests can party all day before retreating to the comfort of a beautiful villa at night. The House Party

takes place in September every year. In spring and fall, The Peligoni Club hosts their Guest Chef Series where they allow guests to push the boundaries of their palette, for a morsel of the usual cost.

The Peligoni Club truly is an all crowd pleaser and is the perfect place to forget the trappings of modern life and rediscover the true meaning and benefits of a summer holiday.
